Tea and brewing guides: tested by us

Brewing guides, tasting notes and tea comparisons are based on repeated side-by-side brews in our own kitchen, using weighed leaf, measured water volumes and a thermometer. We publish the parameters so readers can reproduce our results. When we describe how a tea tastes, we have brewed and tasted it.

Product recommendations: chosen by research

Kettles, teapots, infusers, scales and other gear are not hands-on tested. Those picks are chosen by research: we compare manufacturer specifications, listing details, materials and published owner feedback against the things that actually matter for brewing loose-leaf tea. We say so plainly on every buying guide, and we never describe a product as tested when it was not.

What we will not publish

• Health, medical or weight-loss claims.
• Claims of hands-on testing for products we have only researched.
• Star ratings or verdicts presented as our own measured results when they are not.
• Rewritten manufacturer copy presented as testing.

Sources and expertise

Where we reference processing methods, regions or cultivars, we rely on established tea literature and producers, and we describe our own experience separately from received knowledge.

Corrections and updates

Every guide shows a last-updated date. We revisit product guides at least annually and correct factual errors promptly when readers flag them.

Independence

Affiliate partners and sponsors have no input into ratings, rankings or conclusions, and no pre-publication review of our writing.
